RIGHT SIDE OF HEART

The right side of the heart pumps oxygen-poor blood from the body back to the lungs to be refilled with oxygenThe left side of the heart receives oxygen-rich blood from the lungs and delivers it to the rest of the body. A condition called dextrocardia can cause the heart to be positioned on the right side of the chest instead of the left. Dextrocardia can be present at birth and is congenital, but the reasons for it are unclear. There are several types of dextrocardia, including isolated dextrocardia, where only the heart is on the opposite side of the body, and more common types that involve other heart defects. Dextrocardia on its own usually doesn't cause problems, but it can occur with other conditions that can have serious effects on the heart, lungs, and other vital organs. Treatment is only needed if other heart issues or genetic syndromes are causing problems, and may involve surgery.

Right-sided heart failure occurs when the heart's right ventricle is too weak to pump enough blood to the lungs. This is a lifelong condition with no cure, but many people manage symptoms and maintain a decent quality of life. Treatment may involve medications to reduce fluid retention, lower blood pressure, and open narrowed blood vessels to improve blood flow. It's also important to work closely with a doctor and follow their medication regimen precisely as prescribed, as well as report any new symptoms and manage other medical conditions that could contribute to or worsen heart failure.
